Our specially designed warehouses gives our customers a variety of options when it comes to storing their possessions appropriately.

Our Storage Solutions:

There are a variety of ways we can store your items, but nothing is stored on the ground and is placed in or on one of the following:

• Storage containers: These pre-fabricated wooden storage cases measure approximately 7’ long x 5’ wide x 7.5’ high, creating 250 cubic feet of mixed storage space for furniture. There is only one door to each container and this is secured with a padlock to safeguard your possessions. All containers are strong enough to support handling and the weight of the item they hold.

• Crates and lockable cabinets: These are ideal for smaller items, with each crate, shelf and cabinet having its own unique identifier so that your items are all catalogued. Held within a safe area of the warehouse, our staff are able to control the movements of these to create greater security for smaller items. We endeavour to keep your business’ items together where we can to keep those that are regularly accessed in one easy and efficient place. All smaller objects and any loose items will be contained in boxes and trays, which will be labelled with their contents.

• Pallet racking: This is a flexible storage solution in which racking is designed to meet bespoke criteria and precise needs. They can be used for any type of palletised products giving you a cost effective way to store specific items. All pallet racking is well-fitted, stable and strong enough to hold the load required.

Our Process:

• Decide on the length of time and size of storage you need.
• Book in your storage requirement with Johnsons.
• Johnsons provide a removal and relocation service and therefore have all the packing expertise you’ll need.
• All incoming items of furniture and effects are examined so that the condition of them is agreed between Johnsons and our client. Any signs of damage, infestation, mould or damp will be highlighted.
• All items loaded into our store are physically protected so as to prevent damage.
• Items are labelled by methods such as a Tyvek label with white cotton tape so that no harm or alterations occur to the item whilst labelling.
• Unique identifiers are allocated to each storage container, crate, cabinet, shelf and pallet, and this is then entered into our warehouse inventory. This ensures items are easily identifiable and you can access them easily when required.
• Location plans are displayed at the storage facility entrance detailing where containers, pallets, bays and shelves are. When an item is taken out of the facility, our inventory and intranet are updated to reflect any changes.
• Containers are always sealed with the client present and then individually marked.
• You can then access your items by making an appointment whenever you need them. Just remember to bring your ID along.

• Objects can be reached safely wherever possible. Heavy batches are always stored on lower racks and in the bottom run of containers.
• Appropriate equipment is provided when items are stored at a height. Our lifting and moving equipment for heavier items have been serviced, maintained and certified by official safety bodies.
• Trollies used to transport furniture are stable and easy to manoeuvre.

SECURE

We ensure that your business’ possessions are safeguarded with security procedures in place that are enforced by our Senior Management team. Your items will be safe and secure with the benefit of:

– Secure warehouses on industrial estates with a single access point to the site (with an intercom system) and secure perimeter fencing
– 24/7 CCTV, providing internal and external monitoring
– Full alarm system
– Strongly constructed and close-fitting access doors to storage areas, all fitted with locks, only permitting entry to those with a key or other security device
– Appointment-only entry and all visitors will need to present their ID
– Visitors are escorted by Johnsons’ staff at all times with storage areas having restricted access. Keys and security code access are strictly controlled.

SAFE

Businesses need to know that their items are being kept in conditions that will keep their items safe from damage.

– Robustly constructed storage solutions ensure all items can be supported safely and withstand the capacity stated.
– No items are placed on the ground, with sufficient space between the lowest storage levels and the floor to reduce risks of damage and for ease of inspection.
– Containers can be padded if appropriate, and supplies of quality and approved packaging are readily available in various sizes. This packaging can also be packed and used in boxes to cushion items for extra protection.
– Daily inspections of store buildings mean that issues are dealt with and rectified immediately.
– Inspections of plant and equipment are carried out as per legislation and regulation requirements.
– Identification of any potential access points for vermin, dust and insects including any air ducts, electrical ducts, pipes and cracks. These are identified and sealed to prevent any issues occurring. We have a third party specialist who provides us with a pest-control management system, including monitoring for the presence of pests.
– There are no windows in the warehouse and any offices have black-out blinds to reduce solar gain.
– All items in storage are tested to ensure no vapours are given off which could be harmful to products in close proximity to them.
– Fragile and historical items are handled with either gloves or specialist handling equipment.
– Full emergency procedures are in place including recovery prioritisation agreements with clients should an emergency occur. Johnsons regularly meet with fire officers to ensure thorough emergency preparation procedures are in place including fire control systems.
