Manchester submits plans for a cluster of four residential towers set to transform the Manchester skyline. CQ Investment, part of the Renaker Build group is the construction company. The proposed development is to provide 1,400 apartments (3.7 acre plot) on Owen Street between Mancunian Way and Deansgate. Ranging from 38 to 64 storeys high these new towers could overshadow Manchesters tallest building the 47 storey Beetham Tower. The Beetham Tower, home to the Manchester Hilton Hotel, is not only the highest building in Manchester, it is also the tallest residential building in Europe and the 7th tallest building in England.

Architect Ian Simpson, the Beetham Tower designer, is said to be behind the designs for the towers. If the plans go ahead, residents will have access to an indoor tennis court, swimming pool, spa, gym, cinema and rooftop bar.

CQ Investments spokesperson said, “Our proposals provide a fantastic opportunity to develop a series of landmark buildings set within a high quality public space creating a new community and attractive destination in the city centre.” They continued, “The arrangement, range and specification of accommodation planned combined with the amenity and service provision will deliver highly desirable and important new homes to Manchester.”

If planning permission is granted, plans propose an Autumn start date with estimated completion in 2020.
