Pacman News – ISO Management update

You may have noticed that we are now displaying a different Socotec logo, Socotec, 9001, 14001 and 18001. This is because we have now accredited our three systems rather than BSI and QMS.

QMS were not UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) recognised and although there is nothing wrong with that, as our tenders and bids go under closer scrutiny, we felt it necessary to get 14001 (Environmental) and 18001 (Health and Safety) audited to that level to ensure ongoing robustness. This has now been achieved. And, whilst we were doing this, we took the opportunity to revise the 14001 environmental standard to the new, 2015 version. Another reason for moving to one accreditation body was so that we can achieve an integrated management system.

Our intention is to get achieve an integrated management system, whereby we are audited externally in our entirety, rather than auditors just looking at quality, health and safety or environmental aspects separately.

The next main event will be to upgrade the 9001 quality standard from 2008 to the revised 2015 standard, the external audit of this has been arranged for June 18th. Following that the 18001 H&S system will become an ISO (not BS) standard (45001) and therefore we will have to convert this over. At this stage we anticipate a fully integrated system to be in place.
