Pacman News – Update – Nov 2017

Over the years, I have dreaded the month of November. Traditionally it is not a great month for the removal industry, as work levels normally drop off just before the Christmas rush, plus it’s normally a dark and miserable month weather wise.

However this year brings some exciting news and opportunities that have helped to change the outlook of my least favourite month of the year. The Sales team have pushed hard to turn around November (not the weather part), making this the best November for a few years – Well done guys! November has also seen our Projects team involved with some exciting projects that will help to strengthen Johnsons position in the UK market place. In addition to this, we have won a major project for 2018 and outlined plans for a new IT system. Maybe November isn’t that bad after all….

Royal Liverpool Hospital

This month we were awarded the contract to Move the Royal Liverpool University Hospital in 2018. The project will be the biggest in the Northwest next year and will involve the Project Management and removal services into the new state of the Art £335m hospital. Hopefully you will all join me in congratulating our Bids team for their successful bid: Andy Chatt, David Shewring and Sadie Sumner.

Johnsons Projects

I would like to make a special mention about all the great work our Projects division is doing at the moment.

Craig Massey has just completed a series of major Laboratory Move phases for the University College London. Working as the Project Lead, Craig designed and managed a series of companies to successfully deliver each move phase inline with the agreed scope of works and timescales.

Lianne Jackson has been working hard to develop a new area of the business, undertaking a series of space utilisation studies for the likes of SevenTrent Water and NJW. Implementing new ways of working and technology, Lianne has positioned Johnsons as the preferred partner with both of these companies for future projects.

Aidrian Brownlee is currently in the process of completing a 1000 staff furniture install for Overbury in Northampton. This is the first of hopefully many furniture install projects for Overbury and will help to grow our team of furniture install experts for 2018.

IT and New Systems

We are looking at some options to improve our IT system for 2018 as I know that some of you have been experiencing some issues with the way we access and use our current operational system, Moveware. Most of the short term issues have been fixed, however we want to look at a longterm solution that we feel has the capability to develop with Johnsons, as the company continues to grow and move into new areas. Starting with a new Customer Relationship Managment system (CRM), we are aiming to get the first phase of this project designed and implemented by the end of Q2 2018.

Gareth will be doing the last newsletter of the year, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all your hard work this year, and to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas.
