Sandwell College
The Project
Johnsons Moving Services was awarded the contract to provide Sandwell College with its complete relocation service. This involved a move from 3 existing sites in Smethwick, Oldbury and West Bromwich to a new centralised, multimillion pound state of the art facility in the heart of West Bromwich.
Johnsons Moving Services provided a range of expertise to ensure that all departments, along with any associated heavy machinery and equipment, were relocated to the new facility. The works involved ranged from ensuring that floor plans and furniture layouts were correct, the exact positioning of library books on shelves, to the crates being allocated to specified storage units and unpacked.
The office relocations and associated crate hire had to run in tandem. The project required close monitoring to ensure that each department had enjoyed continuity of operational and administrative functions.
In addition to the move element of this project, we were required to clear all three campuses of redundant furniture and equipment, including:
- Class rooms
- IT hubs
- Offices
- Common rooms
We were only assigned with 25 days to complete this element of the project. This meant that we were working to tight timescales and could only allow 8 days to complete the clearance of each building.
The Result
We carried out the works in accordance with our robust and transparent recycling process which has been certified by the Environment Agency. The project was completed within the required timescale and delivered Zero Landfill and huge CO2 savings.
