Where can you afford to live?

The BBC have recently shared a calculator to help you identify where in the country you could afford to live, and whether it would work out cheaper to rent or buy.

Whether you’re looking to buy your first home, or perhaps moving for work and looking at new areas you’re unfamiliar with, choosing where to live can be a daunting process. You might consider where you can get the most for your money, where the best schooling is for your children, where your property is most likely to hold or increase in value. So much to consider, with the key being not to stretch yourself too far which limits your disposable income and puts strain on your finances.

The BBC calculator is easy to use. Simply enter your requirements and how much you’d like to pay on rent or mortgage repayments each month and the results will show you different parts of the county with properties affordable to you, based on the information you provide.

Click here to calculate the best solution for you and your family. The calculator uses pricing and rental data for 01 March to 31 August 2015, provided by residential property analysts Hometrack. For more information, visit the BBC website which takes you through how the figures are calculated.
