Pacman News – MD Update

I thought I would write a column in the newsletter, so I can let you all know about some of the good things we are doing around the business.

One of these good things is hopefully this newsletter, we know from the results of the staff survey that we as a business need to improve the way we communicate. I hope you find the content of it useful and interesting.

We are looking at other ways we communicate, in the coming weeks, the notice boards will be replaced with TV’s that will display some of the latest information about your branch and Johnsons, hopefully this will be a more useful way of seeing the information rather than lots of pieces of paper on a notice board.

We will also be placing tablets in the brew rooms, which can be used to access HRToolkit and Slack, HRToolkit is the programme we use to book holidays and share key documents such as the staff handbook. Slack is a messaging service a bit like WhatsApp, you will be receiving an invite to your personal email in the next few days to join our group, we will use this to discuss claims, advise people of start times and it is also a useful way to discuss any special requests you may have. We will also be creating WIFI zones so that you can access the internet with your own smartphones when you are in the brew room.

Recently we have introduced the NHS top up scheme for all employees, which you can use to get some money back for opticians, dentists and even prescriptions, hopefully this is useful to everyone. In a few weeks, we will also be introducing a death in service scheme, the scheme will offer life insurance to all employees, if the worst was to happen £50,000 would be paid to whoever you decide to be the beneficiary. These benefits do not cost you anything and are a token of our thanks for all the hard work you all do for our company.

We are serious about understanding the skills we all need to carry out our work, we are currently undertaking a review of all the training, vetting and clearances we need to perform in our jobs, once this is complete all employees will be given a training plan to ensure everyone has the skills they need and timescales to achieve them.

We have already introduced the level 1 training programme; this training will run every month so that all employees both long serving and recently joined will go on this course within the next year, Level 2 will start in September for the more experienced and senior members of staff.

Johnsons is a great company, with a good reputation amongst our clients and our industry, a great company only exists because of the great people who work in it, so thank you for being great at what you all do.
